MOVIE POSTERANCHORMAN: THE LEGEND CONTINUES, 2013
Movie Reviews

Director: Adam McKay

Stars: Will Ferrell, Christina Applegate, Paul Rudd, Steve Carell

Review by Matthew Toffolo

SYNOPSIS:

The continuing on-set adventures of San Diego's top rated newsman.

REVIEW:

What I Didn't Like About This Film

It's too long of a good thing. This movie reminded me of the Pizza Hut buffet. Loads of Pizza is great, but sometimes it's way too much and you don't feel good about yourself when you're finished. Most of the time, less is more because what makes a funny comedy most of the time is that you leave wanting more. This movie you kind of wondered when it was finally going to end.

The first 30 minutes really wasn't needed in this film. The set up was a bit lame and the funniest parts of the movie was when they finally got to their agenda - taking a shot at how today's news really isn't news. And the finale is terrific. But by the time we got to near the finish line, we were already tired. Cut this film and you have yourself a comedic masterpiece.

As soon as I saw a "Apatow Production" in the opening credits, I knew this film was going to be a marathan. Apatow's films are ALL way to long for what they are trying to say.

What I Liked About This Film

The political agenda. All of Adam McKay/Will Ferrell films have an underlying leftist agenda. And taking a direct shot of the news in today's world is the best thing about this film.

What I LOVED About This Film

The finale with the big anchorman fight. Cameos galore. Will Smith, Kanye West, Jim Carrey, John C. Reilly, Vince Vaughn, Sasha Baron Cohen, Tina Fey, Amy Poehler and a few more.

Ron feeds a baby shark with a baby bottle.

The scenes between Kristen Wiig and Steve Carell. Best part of the film.

Dylan Baker. He was terrific in this film.

Overall, this is a good film. I liked it. But of course it's not even close to the brilliant original. Looking forward to Anchorman 3.
